martin ansin mondo man of steel poster

This is Mondo’s limited edition poster for Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel by artist Martin Ansin.

I can’t yet tell you what the limited edition number is because it hasn’t been set. Mondo will be releasing this poster on June 17 via a timed sale that will run for 3 days. At the end of the 3 days the sale will end and the number sold will be the limited edition number (no more will be sold).

It measures 24″ x 36″.

Already a number of these have been put up for sale in advance on Ebay. I really don’t know how sellers are able to do that, but if you want to check them out the link below will show you what’s on there.

Note that the prices on Ebay will always be higher than the price you can get one of these for direct from Mondo (which is $50). So, if you want one and you want to save yourself some cash, keep monitoring Mondo on Twitter for the sale announcement – that’s where they’ll let you know the poster has gone up for sale.

Here’s a picture of the metal variant which will also go up for sale at the same time (none of these are on Ebay). The metal variant will be $300 from Mondo and is limited to 130 prints.

Now that’s sweet!

Over the weekened Mondo released their limited edition regular version of The Black Beetle poster.

Limited to only 225, this version of the poster was released at HeroesCon 2013.

It measures 24″ x 36″ and is an 11-color screen print of artwork by Francesco Francavilla of Dark Horse Comics.

Like all Mondo posters this is already becoming a rare collectible, with just one of the posters from HeroesCon available for sale (via a flipper on Ebay) at the link below:

The price being asked is $160. That’s probably a fairly standard ask for a sold out Mondo poster.

However, there is still a chance you can get one of these or its variant (which is a 12-color screen print via a limited run of 110) for a cheaper price when Mondo open the doors to them via their own online shop. That’s going to happen on June 11, 2013 and the price they’re asking for is $55.

The chances of getting one during the rush when they do release it are low. It will sell out in minutes (if not seconds). But you can try. If you want to try you have to follow Mondo on Twitter for the sale announcement as they’ll be releasing the posters online at a random time and will announce it with a tweet.

You can view more detailed images of Francesco Francavilla’s artwork on the poster over at Mondo’s blog.

Coming this November is a new model of the U.S.S. Excelsior NCC-2000 as featured in the 1991 movie Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.

Manufactured by Diamond Select, the ship measures 16 inches long.

It also features film-accurate lights and sound effects.

The Excelsior was commanded by Captain Hikaru Sulu (George Takei) as it came to rescue the crew of the Enterprise at the end of the film, helping the Enterprise to defeat General Chang and his experimental Bird of Prey.

In keeping with the film this model also includes sound effects featuring the voice of Sulu himself.

Comes with an adjustable display stand.

It’s pretty cheap too at only $49.99. You can order now at the link below:

Oh, and if you’re not following George Takei on Twitter you’re seriously missing out on some awesome tweets from the Commander!

At this years San Diego Comic Con Gentle Giant will be releasing an awesome ‘Magnitude’ mini bust of Admiral Ackbar.

  • Limited Edition of 500 pieces
  • Available at SDCC 2013 only
  • based on the artwork by Steven Daily
  • includes printed wooden box with a 4 x 6 limited edition lithograph print by Acme Archives
  • comes with a hand-numbered certificate of authenticity and bottom stamp.

Okay, so what happens if you’re a collector who really, really wants this but can’t attend SDCC 2013?

The answer rests in attempting to acquire it by a vendor offering it for pre-sale.

What’s that you ask? That’s when people take orders for an item such as this and then go to the event and pick it up on your behalf.

As I write this post three vendors are currently offering just that via Ebay. Prices vary. You can check which one’s are still available for pre-order via the search link below:
